About Hunters Hill

 

Hunters Hill is on the Lower North Shore, and it is one of the suburbs in New South Wales, Australia. It is located on a small peninsula that separates the Lane Cove and Parramatta rivers.

As stated by the 2016 ABS census, there were 9,528 people in Hunters Hill, in which 50.2% were male and 49.8% were females.. There were 2,235 families. Also, 69.1% of people were born in Australia.

 

History of Hunters Hill

 

Hunter’s Hill Aboriginal name is “Mookaboola” or “Moocooboola” which means “meeting of waters”. The suburb got its name after John Hunter, the second Governor of New South Wales.

Mary Reibey was one of the earliest settlers in Sydney. She was the first female retailer in the area.
